What I Build

Custom sensors, robots, and software — built to order for conservation teams, researchers, and volunteers.

Built for the Field, Not the Lab

Root Sense — Environmental Sensor Systems

Root Sense is a family of field sensors designed for ecological monitoring in forests, wetlands, and nature preserves. Standard configurations cover humidity, soil moisture, temperature, pressure, water quality, and pollen. Beyond off-the-shelf sensing, Root Sense also includes custom-built sensors not available commercially — including microbial activity monitors, VOC detectors, and specialised atmospheric sensors for deeper ecosystem analysis. Devices can be configured for standalone local storage or networked via LoRa, BLE, or WiFi. Camera-based variants can also be built for flora and fauna identification.

Trail Ranger — Robots for Conservation

Trail Ranger is a range of small land robots built for forests, trails, and nature preserves. They can patrol and map areas, monitor wildlife, detect disturbances, or carry out repetitive physical tasks like seed planting, soil work, and basic trail maintenance — reducing the manual burden on small volunteer teams. Sampling variants can collect seeds, pollen, or plant matter depending on the project. Solar-powered configurations allow Trail Ranger units to operate independently in the field for extended periods.
